Few drops of sand in the hour-glass remain, as
though they would never end. Few items are
still to be collected, but those cases are not
likely to close, as they would never take off.
Few memories are waiting to be lived, to fasten
themselves to our breasts, to nail them down in
mind. Those will last forever, I am sure.
However, the last things were to come. That
light is going to be switched off. But the
spotlight is still turning around, focusing on
our last work-day at Eco-UNESCO. “You gave proof
of excellent and admirable organization”- said
the National Director of Eco-Unesco, Elaine
Nevin, who assisted to our Action-Projects’
presentations. Each group gave a speech about
the campaign which took place all along Grafton
Street two days before with extraordinary
results. “I am proud of the fact that youth
community thanks to you were interested in
environmental issues - she continued- and I am
really surprised of how green aware have you
become during this two weeks”. Apart from the
general satisfaction, the individual achievement
reached through our projects seems to have been
outstanding and really impressive even for
ourselves, since we have never thought about
being able to “just not to say it in words, but
to act it out”.
A
fine downpour did not stop us from going for our
“Green Trail” in the afternoon, during which we
explored the most important city’s green areas,
finding out the innumerable features of Dublin’s
parks and reserves, according to our guides’
support. By visiting the Natural History Museum
we discovered both the native and the invasive
flora and fauna that the city of Dublin has
hosted since the Eighteenth century.
Dublin wore his Halloween mask on our last Irish
Friday night, and surprise those who have always
seen this feast as a comic relief and not as an
apotropaic and quite religious tradition, as the
Irish of all ages do. Ogres, zombies, monsters,
ghosts and weird evil creatures were walking on
the streets laughing and trying to scare
themselves and the passers-by.” But- they said-
Halloween has just begun!”
“Witches out of bars’ dust, vampires through
lights’ bolt, murderers pass by hiding tight
their colt,
Boys in-between mind’s place, the girls on the
spot of whims, where do we leave our dreams?” |
